Frequently Asked Questions
-
In the first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I'll ask about your reasons for seeking therapy, your current challenges, and what goals you hope to achieve. This session is a chance for me to understand how I can best support you, and for you to decide if I’m the right fit for your needs. We’ll also discuss confidentiality and any concerns or questions you might have.
-
Sessions typically last 50 minutes. However, session length can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.
Extended sessions may be arranged if necessary, especially for trauma-focused work or specific treatments like EMDR.
-
The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some clients may only need a few sessions to address a specific issue, while others may benefit from ongoing therapy for deeper concerns like trauma or anxiety. We will regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed, focusing on reaching the goals we set together.

Getting started is simple! You can message me directly or set up a consultation. This consultation is an opportunity for us to discuss your needs, goals, and how therapy with me can help. From there, we can schedule your first session.
-
Before your first session, please ensure that all intake forms through Simple Practice are completed at least 24 hours in advance.
If the forms are not submitted on time, we may need to reschedule the session to allow enough time for me to review your information and prepare for our work together.

For clients who choose private pay, my fee is $140 per session. Most sessions are scheduled once per week or every other week, depending on your needs. We can always adjust the frequency of sessions as we move forward.

Yes, I accept a variety of insurance plans, including Aetna, Baycare EAP, Cigna, Spring Health EAP, United, and UHC. If you have one of these plans, I can work directly with your insurance for coverage.
For clients with other insurance providers, I am an out-of-network provider, and I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm your mental health coverage and reimbursement options.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people recover from trauma and PTSD.
It involves guided eye movements that stimulate the brain’s natural healing process, helping you process and reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories.
Many of my clients find it particularly effective in reducing PTSD symptoms and improving emotional regulation.
-
I specialize in working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship issues, work stress, and emotional regulation.
My clients typically see improvements in managing stress, better emotional communication, and a deeper understanding of their triggers, with a decrease in PTSD symptoms through techniques like EMDR.

That’s okay! Therapy is a process, and it’s important that you feel safe and ready to share at your own pace. We’ll go at a speed that feels comfortable for you, and I will never pressure you to talk about anything before you’re ready. We can always focus on different aspects of your experience until you feel more at ease.
-
While I work with individuals facing a range of challenges, I do not typically work with clients who exhibit aggressive or violent behavior.
As a therapist, it is my job to make sure I am the best fit for my clients. If you are struggling with those behaviors or I am just not the right fit for you, I can refer you to specialists if needed.
-
It’s normal to feel unsure about starting therapy, especially if it’s your first time. I offer a free 15 minute consultation where we can discuss your concerns, what you’re hoping to achieve, and how therapy might help. This way, you can get a sense of whether therapy feels like the right step for you before committing.
